I do not plan my paintings, I let them happen, surrrendering my brush to the inherent creative power of the present moment. My work explores the landscape of mystical experience, mythic consciousness, and the movement of energy through the physical, mental, and spiritual realms. I use color and symbol as a cross-cultural visual language for approaching what the Lakota Native Americans term "Wakan Tanka" or the Great Mysterious, the void from which springs all possibilities. I never feel as though my paintings are finished or fully contained within the canvas, rather, they represent and enact evolutions, beginnings, and ceaseless creation moving out in all directions. These are the strange and colorful waves of life energy that surrounds and moves within us, revealing the interconnectedness of humans, nature, and spirit.
